Michelle Obama spoke at Jackson State University in Mississippi recently. She urged people to get out to vote, lest we lose the massive amounts of progress we have made in the US over the last few decades.
I’m sure to the new generation of voters it seems like we, as a society, have ALWAYS had these rights and that no one can take them away. We just need to glimpse at Mississippi and North Carolina to realize that, that is just NOT true!
I urge our young adults to get out there and vote for the BEST candidate. We need to remember that there is seldom a PERFECT candidate. I will not get into my political view or whom I will vote for, because that’s not what this is about. I want you to vote for who YOU think is the best.
Here is an excerpt from Mrs. Obama’s speech:
“So we’ve got to stand side by side with all our neighbours –- straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender; Muslim, Jew, Christian, Hindu immigrant, Native American — because the march for civil rights isn’t just about African-Americans, it’s about all Americans.”
